The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry has announced the four winners of the fourth annual Oklahoma School Garden Contest. There were 14 gardens submitted, each showcasing a variety of garden types and innovative education projects. The 2025 winners are: Best Harvest School Garden: Little Sprouts Learning Best Pollinator School Garden: Tuttle High School Best Startup Garden: Middleberg Elementary School Best Education-Based Garden: Kingston Public Schools “We are thrilled to see schools all across the state teaching our students the importance of agriculture through hands-on learning opportunities,” said Oklahoma Secretary of Agriculture Blayne Arthur. “Programs like this help show kids where their food comes from, encourage them to build healthy eating habits and can inspire the next generation of agriculture in Oklahoma.” The contest is sponsored by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee and is open to all public or private PK-12 schools, early childhood education facilities and alternative learning environments. Applications for the 2026 contest will open in April 2026. School Garden Training: How to Incorporate the School Garden into Classroom Curriculum This free professional development training offers educators the opportunity to learn how to incorporate and facilitate garden-based learning into their classroom curriculum through hands-on garden activities. Each participant will be equipped with a variety of easily integrated, ready-to-go lessons and activities that can be utilized in conjunction with school gardens across all grade levels.
