Oak, white- hardwood containers

Quercus alba

Description

Hardwood containers are grown for conservation plantings on smaller acreages.  They are grown in containers that are 2 5/8 inches in diameter and 10 inches long.  A flat of 25 is $125. FRC does not ship containerized seedlings. Containerized seedlings must be picked up at FRC in Goldsby.

The White Oak grows up to 90′ and has a light gray bark. It thrives in full sun in moist, well drained, acidic soil. Its acorns are an important food source for wildlife including turkey, quail and deer.

If you are looking to make a positive impact on the ecosystem, there is no other native plant that does more than the White Oak. It feeds more wildlife than any other species.
