Prunus mexicana
Description
Mexican Plum is a small, deciduous single trunk tree that does not form thickets. It typically grows 15-20′ tall with a rounded, open crown. It is grown in most soil types and in all areas of Oklahoma except the panhandle. The white flower forms in clusters. The fruit grows up to 1 inch in diameter, maturing in late summer. The fruit is an excellent food source for wildlife and can be made into preserves. It is also attractive to pollinators.
