Sweetgum hardwood containers

Liquidamber styraciflua

Description

Sweetgum is a large forest tree that grows up to 75 feet tall or more with a straight trunk to 2.5 feet or more in diameter, with a conical shape when young and an upright, broad crown on older trees. Common to abundant in moist soil of valleys and lower slopes in hardwood forests and scattered with pines. Great for erosion control and shade tree with odd star-shaped leaves turning reddish in autumn.

Hardwood containers are grown for conservation plantings on smaller acreages. If you are planting a windbreak, wildlife habitat or any other conservation planting, these seedlings are just the ticket. They are grown in containers that are 2 5/8 inches in diameter and 10 inches long. These seedlings are $5.00 each and are only available in flats of 25 per species. The minimum order is 25 trees. A flat of 25 costs $125. FRC does not ship containerized seedlings. Containerized seedlings must be picked up at FRC within 30 days of notice.
